Weeds is a program on Showtime, a premium channel offered via Satellite providers like http://www.tvbydirect.com. This program is a favorite of mine for a number of reasons. The idea is a suburban mother has suddenly lost her husband and needs to come up with a financial support system as soon as possible. She finds that her only option is to sell marijuana throughout her suburb to various clients like housewives, councilmen and college students. When she enters this world she is timid but has one major rule: Never sell to kids! While this show seems to be devoid of morality it promotes Nancy as the hero who cares for the community who we can't help but root for.
Weeds is made better by the fact that it is well written and has characters with the oddest quirks. Celia is the most amusing character as throughout the series she goes from perfect housewife with a superiority complex to a rcovering drug addict with a superiority complex to a prisoner in Mexico assisting criminals with a superiority complex. While the premise of the show (Suburban weed dealer) eventually melts away to drug trafficking from Tijuana and running from drug lords it still has the same entertainment value, comedy and character development that it began with.
And if none of this appeals to you, it co-stars Kevin Nealon.
